Honoring Black History Month Together
- February 12, 2021
March is Women's History Month, which commemorates and encourages the study, observance, and celebration of the vital role that women play in American society and history.
International Women's Day is a global day to celebrate the countless accomplishments women around the world have made socially, culturally, politically, economically, and more. This day is not only important to uplift women around the world for their achievements, but to also stand by them to raise awareness for equality. March 8th is International Women's Day.
Throughout March, we’re proud to celebrate by highlighting women-owned businesses within WestShore Plaza.
"When the world shut down these two young entrepreneurs took this as an opportunity to open Camp Doublemint.
At the age of 19 and 20 Gabi and Synthia began babysitting after seeing the need for safe childcare while working at a foster home. In 2016, Doublemint Sitting was established. Since then, this duo has been awarded several awards; the most recent being Community Champions. Every day they strive to be better and do better. Gabi & Synthia are active members on the board of TRIBE Seminole Heights, Gigi’s playhouse and work effortlessly being Guardian Ad Litems for children in foster care.
With a team of 350 sitters across the state of Florida and now their first drop in facility, they are focusing on expanding to another Washington Prime location & hope to have several Camps open by 2022."
"After taking the traditional route, Jessica Rios, founder and owner of All Brides 2 Be & most recently Arden Bridal & Boutique Tampa, went to college, graduated with a degree in Bio-Medical Science and took a "safe" job working as a Territory Manager with a pathology lab. After enduring a second layoff within a two-year span, Rios had enough. She was tired of leaving her fate in the hands of others.
With lots of encouragement from her husband, she took the leap of faith and started a business centered around a life-long passion... Fashion. And much more than Fashion, Jessica has a deep compassion for others and helping them find the perfect attire for each of their special occasions. Coming from a world of primarily cancer research has really opened Jessica's eyes and has given her so much gratitude for all life's special events."
"Ashley is the CEO and vision behind the company! She created the first Selfie WRLD in Iowa in the summer of 2020 when her photography business was impacted due to COVID-19.
As best friends since middle school, Alie and Kendra supported her from day one. Quickly her vision grew and there was interest around the country to expand and thought it would be fun to do one as friends! Alie and Kendra went with Ashley to Miami to open her second location and left there knowing they wanted to do open a location together!
The three ladies started looking at areas that they all loved, and Tampa Bay was at the top of all of their lists! "We see the potential here and knew that everyone would love the concept and experience!", says the owners. It happened quickly but after a walk through in WestShore Plaza, they knew it would be a great fit for Selfie WRLD and were pleasantly surprised on how accommodating everyone in management was.
"We love being a place that all ages can come, have fun and capture memories on their phone! It truly motivates us to share with anyone and everyone because we know that hour in our space, will be like none other.""
